    How it works

    Three steps, all on your own device.

    1. Step 1: Add an image

      Drop, paste or pick up to 10 images. Each gets its own palette.

    2. Step 2: Choose how many colours

      From 3 to 16, with k-means in OKLab or median cut. The palette updates when you change the settings.

    3. Step 3: Copy or export

      Click any value to copy it, or export the palette as CSS, Tailwind, JSON or a PNG swatch strip.

    Questions and answers

    How are the colours chosen?
    The image is reduced to at most 512 pixels on its long side, then its colours are grouped with k-means in OKLab, a colour space where distances match how different colours look. The start is fixed, so the same image always gives the same palette. Median cut is also available.

    What does the percentage mean?
    The share of the image’s pixels that belong to that colour, counted on the reduced copy. Fully transparent pixels are not counted.

    Which colour formats can I copy?
    HEX, RGB, HSL and OKLCH for every colour, plus the whole palette as CSS custom properties, a Tailwind theme block or JSON. The swatch strip downloads as a PNG.

    What is the contrast value for?
    It is the WCAG contrast ratio of the colour against white and against black. Text needs at least 4.5:1 to be readable at normal sizes, so it shows at a glance which text colour works on each swatch.
