    How it works

    Three steps, all on your own device.

    1. Step 1: Add JPG files

      Drop, paste or pick up to 10 JPG images of 20 MB each. They are read on your device.

    2. Step 2: AVIF is already selected

      The output is set to AVIF. You can still choose another format or change the quality.

    3. Step 3: Download the AVIF files

      Each JPG file keeps its name with the .avif extension, one by one or as a ZIP.

    Questions and answers

    Why does AVIF take longer than JPG?
    AVIF compresses more thoroughly, which takes more work. The encoder runs at a fast setting, but large photos still take a few seconds each, depending on your device.

    Can every program open AVIF?
    Current browsers can, and many image viewers can, but some older software cannot. Keep your JPG originals if you are unsure.

    What quality setting works for AVIF?
    The slider uses the same 40–100 scale as the other formats; around 75–85 gives photos that look close to the original at a small size.
